What You Actually Need
Most businesses rush into competitive analysis without proper preparation. They end up with scattered data that doesn't tell them anything useful.
We've worked with Melbourne startups and established Sydney firms. The ones who succeed? They all start with three things sorted:
- Clear understanding of which competitors actually matter to your specific market segment
- Basic financial metrics framework that matches your business model and revenue structure
- Access to reliable data sources beyond free online tools and surface-level research
- Realistic timeline expectations for gathering meaningful competitive intelligence
It's not complicated, but it does require some upfront thinking. The firms that skip this step usually come back six months later having wasted time on irrelevant analysis.
Investment Structure
We price based on scope and complexity. Most engagements start with preparation phase work to ensure you're set up properly before diving into ongoing analysis.

How the Consultation Works
First meeting is usually 90 minutes. We'll look at your current situation, talk through who you're actually competing against, and figure out what gaps exist in your data collection.
One Perth-based fintech came to us thinking they needed to track 15 competitors. Turned out only four really mattered for their niche. Saved them hundreds of hours.
We don't sell you software subscriptions or lock you into ongoing contracts. The goal is getting you properly prepared so your analysis work actually produces useful insights. Most clients are ready to start their competitive research within 4-6 weeks of initial consultation.
Sessions happen in Hobart or via video call. Brisbane and Adelaide clients usually prefer remote meetings, which works fine. The preparation documents get shared through secure channels, not email attachments.
What Clients Say About Preparation
Darren Thornley
Operations Director, Queensland
We thought we knew our competitors. The preparation sessions revealed blind spots we'd had for two years. Worth every dollar just for that clarity alone.
Siobhan Kerrigan
Finance Lead, Melbourne
The metrics framework they built matched our business model perfectly. Saved us months of trial and error with data that wouldn't have been relevant anyway.
Callum Ridgeway
Strategy Manager, Sydney
Straightforward process with no fluff. They identified exactly what we needed to track and helped us set up systems that actually work for our team's workflow.
